About Us

About UsMid-Wales Housing Association was established in 1975 and has over 1200 properties throughout Powys and Ceredigion as well as a few properties in Shropshire.

Operating from its Newtown office and an area office in Llandrindod Wells, Mid-Wales Housing provides homes for rent at affordable cost.  Its clients range from families, single people of all ages and the elderly, to people who need care and support either occasionally or full time.

It is run by a Board of Management. Members of the Board are not paid for their services but give their time voluntarily. Our Members come from most parts of our area and from a variety of backgrounds, including building, finance, local government, voluntary organisations and, of course, housing.

Up to a third of the Board may be Tenant Board Members and in 2008 Tenant Board Members will be elected by the Association's tenants for the first time.

Organisational Structure

The Association is currently organised into four departmental structures as follows:

  • Chief Executive (PA, Administration and Reception)
  • Corporate Services (Finance, HR, Information & Performance)
  • Technical Services (Development, Asset Management, Gardening, Community Services)
  • Housing Services (Housing Management, Cleaning)

Our Vision

The Association sees itself as an important tool in seeking to address the housing needs of the Mid-Wales region for the foreseeable future. The Association intends to concentrate primarily on its core function of developing and maintaining good quality, affordable housing for people in need whilst providing a high quality, efficient, caring management service.

It also recognises the importance that housing plays in the wider community and feels that it is important to consider how it can use its economic strength to address some of those wider needs. The impact of its new and existing developments on often small communities will be a major focus of its Community Development Strategy.

Our Values

The Association believes that as a "Social Enterprise", whilst what it achieves is very important, how it achieves those objectives is equally as important. Its corporate values dictate how it plans to reach its objectives, and also play an important role in whether strategic stakeholders will wish to work with the Association in the future. The Association's Corporate Values are:

  • Integrity and Commitment - We will be honest and open about our aims and steadfast in achieving them.
  • Customer Focused - Responding to our customers' needs and aspirations will be a high priority.
  • Quality and High Standards - We will aim to provide the best possible service we can. Our goal will be "excellence".
  • Efficiency - We aim to ensure the best possible use of limited resources, and endeavour to maximise the impact of our activities.
  • Initiative and Innovation - We will encourage staff to be professional, and to think for themselves to resolve the problems of our customers; to be outcome (not process) focused.
