households can not
afford to buy a home
and nearly 38% can’t
afford to rent from a
private landlord (1)

Even in the most

Ceredigion taken
together.(3)

Council and Housing
Association homes
as a proportion of
total UK homes fell
by 20% between 1981 and 2008.(4) In Wales between 1996 and 2008 there has been a 12% fall.(5)

Council and Housing
Association tenants n the UK are economically inactive.(6)

The Association feels it should change the way it allocates housing to give priority to applicants who are more valuable to the communities
where it has housing and proposes a system that rewards local people, those in employment and those who contribute to society by voluntary
work.
