Apply For A Home

Applying for a home with Mid-Wales Housing is simple! You can choose to apply on-line, download a copy of the form to complete at your convenience or request that we send you one in the post. Please select one of the three options at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you can call into one of our offices in Newtown or Llandrindod Wells.

There is a waiting list for most of our properties and we will assess your application for housing in line with our Lettings Policy, which is based on housing need. Occasionally, applications may not receive any points i.e. this may indicate that their present home meets their current housing need.

What Happens Once We Have Received Your Application Form?

Once our Housing Services Team has received your application form and it has been assessed, we will send you an acknowledgment stating how many points your application has received, what the points are for and also a summary of where we have had vacancies over the previous 12 months. Your application will be placed on the waiting list for the areas and size of accommodation of your choice.

A copy of our Letting Policy can be downloaded from the Downloads section or by contacting us at either of our offices.

Council Nominations

For most of the properties we own, we have a nomination agreement within the Local Authority areas in which we operate (Powys and Ceredigion). Under the nomination arrangements, a percentage of our properties is offered to people on their waiting lists. The exact percentage of vacant properties we offer both Councils does vary, but is normally 50%. Due to this, we recommend that you apply for housing with your Local Authority (Powys County Council/Ceredigion County Council) as well as with ourselves.

The Next Step

When one of our properties becomes available, we will normally contact the highest pointed applicant on our waiting list or from the list of Council nominations. We normally visit our highest pointed applicant (deemed to be most in need of housing) at their home to verify the details on the application form.

Supported Housing

The Association has a number of properties where support is available. This could be someone calling each day all the way through to 24 hour support. Properties where this support is always available are referred to as supported housing. To apply for supported housing, please select one of the three options at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you can call into one of our offices in Newtown or Llandrindod Wells. Make sure you tell us what sort of support you need when you apply for housing.

If you are not sure, please contact the Housing Services Section on 01686 620529. Alternatively, you can request information on-line using the Contact Us section of this website.

Some tenants don't need supported housing but do need some support to maintain their tenancy. Make sure you tell us what support you need when you apply for housing.
