Contractor Apprenticeships
Mid-Wales Housing Association is concerned to ensure that local employment opportunities exist in the areas in which it operates. To make this possible, in selecting the contractors which it gives work to, the Association has contractually ensured that 80% of the workforce will be local. This will avoid workforces being brought into the areas in which the Association has homes.
As well as setting targets on local employment, the Association has set targets on the amount of apprentices which are employed by the building and construction companies it works with. This will provide training to young people to help them in the future. The Association is keen to expand, improve and retain skills within the local area and is working closely with the contractors to provide this in the following areas:
- Construction
- Property Maintenance
- Plumbing and Heating
- Painting and Decorating
- Electrical
If you are interested in developing skills in one or more of these areas, please send us your details and expressions of interest using the Contact Us page
A4e Community Task Force Programme
Mid-Wales Housing Association is also working with A4e (Action for Employment) on their Community Task Force Programme (CTF). This fresh initiative aims to improve the long term work prospects of the younger generation and improve the long term economic stability of local communities.
The CTF programme is centred on offering young people between the ages of 18-24 the chance to gain invaluable work experience benefiting both participating organisations and the candidates involved.
A4e provides the organisation with candidates that specifically want to work within their sector and who will add value to the business. A4e also makes sure that the organisation and candidates are constantly supported, guaranteeing that everything runs smoothly.
More information about the A4e Community Task Force Programme can be found on their website.

Other Local Vacancies
Mid-Wales Housing Association is currently developing a number of partnerships which will enable it to provide local employment opportunities.
Details of these projects can be found in the Other Local Vacancies section of this website.
Understanding The Region
Mid-Wales Housing Association has always championed the needs of the region and is determined to consult widely with the community on its views on how the affordable housing crisis should be tackled in Mid-Wales. It is keen to take this discussion to local communities and is interested in attending as many community events as it can. We would particularly welcome enquiries from organisers of village shows, where we may be able to provide some sponsorship.
Developing Local Solutions
Mid-Wales Housing Association has a long history of innovation, and will continue to provide local solutions to local problems. It will be consulting widely on its ideas, and invites comment form both its tenants and the wider community. You can comment on these proposals via this web site, from time to time.
Setting Priorities
When we are deciding what our future business priorities should be many factors need to be considered. However, one of the most important is what our tenants and the wider community feel are important issues. You can have your say by playing our interactive game Spend It Street, where you can tell us how you would spend the Association’s money.
