Tenant Involvement

"Tenant Participation is a two way process involving both tenants and their landlords in the sharing of ideas, enabling tenants to influence decisions regarding the management of their homes."
TPAS (Tenant Participation Advisory Service).

Mid Wales Housing is committed to working with tenants to ensure that the service provided is the best possible for our tenants. You, as a tenant of the Association, can tell us how we can improve the service we offer and we welcome your involvement. With your help we can ensure that we meet the needs of our tenants and the wider community.

We aim to achieve this in three different ways. Firstly we will give you as much information as possible so that you understand how we work. Secondly, we will consult with you regularly and feedback the results of any consultation on a quarterly basis. Thirdly we will encourage all our tenants to participate actively.
Getting involved can be achieved in various ways:

  • Joining the Board of Management
  • Becoming a shareholder in the Association
  • Attending local meetings
  • Joining the Tenants' Panel
  • Forming an estate based Focus Group
  • Joining the Mid Wales 50 Group
  • Taking part in short surveys about our services
  • Taking part in a Continuous Improvement Service Review

Being involved and/or participating in the Association's business can be as much or as little as you wish. We respect the views of our tenants and welcome opinions. Without your help, whether it is a compliment, comment or complaint, we are unable to ascertain whether you are satisfied with the service you receive from us.

So why not come aboard and help us to provide an excellent, value for money service.

For an informal chat about how you can become involved please contact your Housing Co-ordinator or send us an expression of interest using the General Comments section of this website.

The Board of Management

The Association’s Board of Management is the governing body of the Association and is responsible for directing the affairs of the Association in accordance with its Objects and Rules on behalf of the shareholders, tenants, employees and community at large. It exercises control of and responsibility over the management of the Association.

There are a minimum of 7 and a maximum 15 places on the Board including 5 reserved for tenant members.  In addition, a maximum of five persons may be co-opted to the Board from time-to-time for either a particular or a general purpose. The Association aims to fill the 5 tenant Board places via annual elections held through our Newsletter.

Tenants & Residents' Forum

The Tenants & Residents' Forum (Formerly Tenants’ Panel) was established in 2001 to form a partnership between Mid-Wales Housing Association and its Tenants. The Panel currently consists of approximately 15 members who work closely with the staff of the Association - all tenants are welcome to join the meetings.

Meetings take place 6 times year and are generally held at the Association's Offices (Tŷ Canol House) in Newtown on the first Friday of every other month at 10:00am.

The dates for 2010 meetings are:

16th April 2010

18th June 2010

6th August 2010

1st October 2010

3rd December 2010

Please contact Jane Jones for more information or to confirm attendance on 01686 620508

Mid Wales 50 Group

The Mid Wales 50 has been set up in order to ensure we have efficient, effective services throughout the Association through improving tenant involvement in all service areas.

The group is made up of volunteer tenants who do not necessarily want to be part of a meeting or focus group, but can be involved as little or as much as they wish, by participating when and how it is most convenient to them.

The practical ways in which we will seek involvement from the group are detailed below.

  • Helping in the formulation of strategy and policy by way of:

- Working groups to formulate content and produce draft documents

- Feedback on draft documents

  • Formulating key organisational documents e.g. Business Plan

  • Formulating the programme of Continuous Improvement and participating in the C.I. reviews by:

- Working as members of the review teams

- Assisting with review surveys

- By completing individual surveys

- By assisting with completion of surveys by door to door methods, telephone interviews etc. as appropriate for the review

  • Involvement in adhoc surveys from other service areas within the Association

Becoming a Shareholder in the Association

Anyone may become a shareholder in Mid-Wales Housing Association on payment of £1.

This entitles the shareholder to attend the Association’s Annual General Meeting and vote on all of the business critical issues raised for approval at the meeting, including approval of the annual accounts.

For further information, please contact the Association on 0300 111 3030.
